You don’t have to look very far to find someone who suffers from seasonal threats. It seems as though more and more people are dealing with troublesome issues caused by the change in seasons. Grasses, pollen, and trees have a way of making our lives miserable when the seasons change. In this article, I will discuss the essential oils for seasonal threats that may help to improve your discomfort. Essential oils can be a wonderful natural remedy for you if you’re looking to feel better when the seasons change.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is probably the most well-known essential oil. It has the ability to improve a wide range of ailments including burns, dandruff, feelings of sadness, poor sleep, and much more (Modern Essentials, 2015, p. 130). In addition, lavender is one of the most beneficial essential oils for seasonal threats as it possesses anti-histamine properties. This property is especially beneficial when we experience a change in seasons. What’s more, lavender has a pleasing aroma and may help to promote feelings of calmness.

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon is another one of the best essential oils for seasonal threats. This versatile oil has many uses including its ability to improve oily hair, concentration, and much more. In the case of seasonal discomfort, lemon is an especially effective natural remedy due to its power to improve lymphatic cleansing, physical energy, dry throat, and exhaustion (Modern Essentials, 2015, p. 133). In addition, lemon essential oil smells amazing and can give you an energy boost.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil has been used for many ailments and may help to improve alertness, digestive issues, sore muscles, and muscle fatigue. In addition, peppermint is one of the most helpful essential oils for seasonal threats because it may help with physical reactions that occur when the seasons change (Modern Essentials, 2015, p. 151).

Melaleuca Essential Oil

Also known as tea tree essential oil, melaleuca has a wide range of benefits such as it ability to help with mild acne, cuts, skin issues, and sunburn. Furthermore, it is one of the best essential oils for seasonal threats as it may improve eye and throat discomfort. In addition, melaleuca possesses anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and decongestant properties (Modern Essentials, 2015, p. 140).

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Roman Chamomile essential oils has a long list of uses including its ability to help with bee stings, promote feelings of calmness, hyperactivity, and more. In the case of seasonal threats, Roman Chamomile is a great natural remedy for improving poor sleep and skin discomfort that is sometimes associated with seasonal threats (Modern Essentials, 2015, p. 153).

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

When it comes to essential oils for seasonal threats, eucalyptus is great for improving the discomfort associated with the changes in seasons. In addition, eucalyptus essential oil can serve as an expectorant and may help to improve discomfort associated with seasonal threats (Modern Essentials, 2015, p. 111). Furthermore, eucalyptus essential oils can provide you with alertness and focus when inhaled.

How to Use Essential Oils for Seasonal Threats

General Seasonal Threats: Changes in Seasons Discomfort

Apply 1 drop peppermint on the base of the neck twice a day.

Diffuse 5 -8 drops of peppermint oil into the air.

Rub 3 drops each of lemon, lavender, and peppermint and place on back of neck and bottoms of feet.

Add 2-3 drops each of lemon, lavender, and peppermint to a vegetable capsule and take internally or with approximately 1/2 teaspoon of pure honey. Only use internally when symptoms persist.

Respiratory Discomfort

Diffuse 4 – 6 drops of eucalyptus into the air or inhale directly from bottle.

Dilute 2-4 drops of eucalyptus with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and rub on chest and bottoms of feet to fight respiratory discomfort.

Skin Discomfort

Dilute 2 drops of lavender, 5 drops of roman chamomile, and 1 drop of peppermint in 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil and apply directly to skin.

A Word About the Safety of Essential Oils for Seasonal Threats

As I discussed, there are several essential oils for seasonal threats. When using essential oils as a natural remedy, it is very important to understand that all oils are not created equal. Please be sure that you purchase quality essential oils that are certified pure from a reputable source. Many oils found in stores and online are filled with cheap filler oils and some are even toxic. Please do your homework before using any essential oil brand. Please note that all essential oils are not intended to be used internally and some may cause sun sensitivity.
