According to “Modern Essentials” (2015), Lavender essential oil may improve:

  • Occasional Stress
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Bug Bites/Stings
  • Concentration
  • Cuts
  • Flaky Scalp
  • Feelings of Sadness
  • Diaper Rash
  • Low Energy
  • Dry and Fragile Hair
  • Poor Sleep
  • Itching
  • Dry Lips
  • Mental Stress
  • Skin Issues
  • Stretch Marks
  • Sunburn
  • Mild Dizziness
  • Wrinkles

While this list of lavender essential oil benefits is quite long, it is by no means exhaustive. This simple fragrant oil is gentle yet powerful and may be useful for many health concerns.

Below is a short list of some of these issues and how to use lavender essential oil in order to improve them.

Lavender Essential Oil for Sleep

Lavender is probably best known for its ability to promote relaxation in order to get better sleep. Here is how to use lavender essential oil for sleep:

  1. Apply 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil to spine, bottoms of feet, or back of neck.
  2. Add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil to warm bathwater and bathe before sleeping.
  3. Diffuse into the air.
  4. Apply 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil to the bottom of pillow before sleeping.
  5. Add 5 drops of lavender essential oil to approx. 1 ounce of water, place in a small spray bottle, and mist in the air before sleeping (Modern Essentials, 2015).

Lavender Essential Oil for Occasional Stress

  1. Diffuse into the air.
  2. Inhale directly from bottle.
  3. Apply to hands and inhale.
  4. Massage 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil into the back of the neck or temples.
  5. Add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil to bath salts and dissolve in warm bath water (Modern Essentials, 2015).

Lavender Essential Oil for Mild Burns/Cuts

  1. Apply 1-2 drops on location. Dilute with fractionated coconut oil if sensitivity occurs (Modern Essentials, 2015).
